I don’t feel like there are words to accurately describe what is happening right now in the mountains of North Carolina. I’m writing this at the same time I should be running a rehearsal for a beautiful wedding at the Biltmore tomorrow. The greater Asheville and Boone areas are where I have spent most Octobers and watched the happiest moments come to life for our couples. The mountains are destination wedding spots for so many wonderful reasons and the start of tourism season was just beginning. Our beautiful state is hurting and the devastation is still being discovered with loss of lives, homes and livelihood. I’ve cried so much this week watching Instagram stories from fellow vendor friends and reading about the most unimaginable things. The way individuals are coming together to rescue people, bring supplies, foster animals and donate has been the most heartening side of it all showing that the mountain community is so strong. We’re navigating all of this with our couples and still trying to reach some of them and praying for their safety. We love our mountain wedding community and know that it will return one day stronger than ever 🤍 If you are able, please donate to your local drop off center. For our non-local friends, Mountain Mule Packers Ranch is currently getting supplies to the smaller towns in desperate need who cannot be reached by vehicles.
